Outdoor trends 2015

This year’s trip to Milan Salone del Mobile was refreshing – a new wave of trends, completely set apart from last year. The design world is shifting…Over the next few month’s we will be taking you through some of these new trends, including bathrooms, kitchens, furniture, colours and starting here with OUTDOOR design. Summer is on the way and it’s time to consider your outdoor space.

Wandering through the new outdoor collections, I felt blissful surrounded by earthy hues, soft, abundant textures, and beautiful, natural materials. Instead of the typical waterproof, sheeny fabrics that usually adorn seats and plastic tables and chairs, there has been a revival. Clever textiles which emulate interior fabrics – knitted, linens, even felts are now taking their place outdoors, bringing the luxury of an interior living space to the garden.

Side tables are clustered and a focal point. Dining tables are sociable, and less formal. The seating at tables are much less formal too – comfortable armchairs or casual benches.

The following is a round up of the best designs we saw at Milan 2014, looking ahead to 2015.

Knitted armchair arms are a soft accompaniment to the natural wood of this table. It will beautifully blend into garden spaces.
