2014 exclusive preview

This year, the interior palette trend is all about muted, dreamy pastels; layered textures of monochrome, the 1950’s enigma, indigo, velvet.. but what are our favourite lighting, furniture, surface designers releasing to the world this coming year?

We gained a great deal of inspiration from brands at last year’s Design Week all over London and in Milan. This January we are looking ahead at some of our favourite brands’ 2014 releases with a secret look into what they will be creating. Each fortnight we will release two more.

PINCH

Having won the Elle Decoration Best British Brand award in November, Pinch are on a very focused mission to keep on creating wonderfully simple furniture pieces in gorgeous materials.  Having launched their original, humble (and much needed on the market) Lana dressing table in November, they will be internationally launching it at M&O in Paris at the end of this month.

2014 is a big year for Pinch, launching a new table light called The Derome Light; statuesque and cutting a very strong silhouette, a shelving system, bedside table and quite possibly a bed – a new and exciting product area for which we cannot wait. Their air of simplicity, purity of materials and soft shapes and hues will satisfy those looking for something original and brings Pinch to the forefront of furniture design.

FLOS

Flos are releasing a few new decorative & architectural lights this year. One of which really stood out to us as distinctive and bold, whilst subtle and stylish. ‘STRING LIGHTS’ is a suspension designed by Michael Anatassiades. Minimal like a pencil light drawn in the air, STRING LIGHTS are functional yet sit like a piece of installation art within the room.

“Everytime I take the train, I sit by the window and watch the series of perfectly parallel strings connecting the nylons as we move at high speed. I love the way they divide the landscape”

Their popular TAB T light designed by British Design duo Edward Baber and Jay Osgerby has been released in a limited edition Red.  With an engineered ceramic diffuser that emits a soft light suitable for reading and working, this lamp is ideal for a bedside table or as a desk lamp. The shade is fully adjustable so the light direction can be altered to suit you. It also doubles as a book rest to ensure that you never lose your page.

Look out for next fortnight’s 2014 preview, with Viabizunno and &Tradition.
